Something New Is Coming for NZ Trades Teams

By Jotter Team

We have been building something

For the past year, a small team in New Zealand has been working on a problem that most trades businesses know too well: the gap between finishing a job on site and getting the invoice into Xero.

You track hours in a notebook. You scribble materials on a receipt. You sit down on Friday night and try to remember what you did on Monday. By the time the invoice lands in Xero, half the details are guesswork.

We built an app to fix that. It is called Jotter Jobs, and it launches on April 2nd, 2026.

What Jotter does

Jotter is a job tracking app for trades teams that connects directly to Xero. Your team tracks jobs on their phones as they work -- time, materials, line items -- and when the job is done, Jotter creates the invoice in Xero automatically. No re-typing, no Friday night admin.

Here is what is inside:

  • Job tracking -- Create jobs, assign them to your team, add line items from your Xero items list.
  • Built-in timers -- Start a timer on any line item. It shows on your Lock Screen (iPhone) or notification bar (Android), even when the app is closed. Run multiple timers at once.
  • Materials tracking -- Add materials as you use them. Pick from your Xero items so the codes and pricing are always right.
  • Xero invoicing -- Mark a job complete and the invoice appears in Xero. Customer, line items, quantities, pricing -- all filled in from what was tracked on site.
  • Offline-first -- Every feature works without internet. New builds, basements, rural sites -- Jotter works where your signal does not. Everything syncs when you reconnect.
  • Team management -- Invite your crew with a link. Control what they can see. Hide prices from team members who do not need them.
  • Industry packs -- Pre-configured setups for 10 trades including plumbing, electrical, drainage, building, and more.

What Jotter does not do

We are upfront about this. Jotter does not include fleet tracking or GPS. If you need those, there are good tools out there that handle them. Jotter focuses on what matters most for trades teams: scheduling work, tracking jobs in the field, and getting accurate invoices into Xero. We would rather do that properly than do ten things poorly.

Free to start, NZ pricing

The free plan includes 2 seats with every feature -- no time limit, no credit card. Use it forever if it suits your needs. Paid plans start at $69.99/month for 5 seats, which works out to $14 per seat. For context, comparable tools in New Zealand charge $48-75 per user per month.

All pricing is in NZD. No currency conversion surprises.

April 2nd

Jotter Jobs launches on the App Store and Google Play on April 2nd. On launch day we will have a full walkthrough of how it works, but if you want to be ready to go from day one, here is what you can do right now:

  • Check out the pricing page to see which plan fits your team.
  • Read the What is Jotter guide so you know what to expect.
  • Have your Xero login handy. Connecting Jotter to Xero takes about 60 seconds.

We built Jotter for sparkies, plumbers, drainlayers, builders, painters, and every other trade that is tired of losing hours to paperwork. We cannot wait to show you what it does.

See you on April 2nd.
